In the fall of 2017, we launced a four week speaker series on our four focus words of grace, love, justice, and inclusion. During spring 2018 we sponsored a 6-week book study of Matthew Vine's God and the Gay Christan led by Pastor Greg Milinovich.  In 2019 we hosted a conversation on conversion therapy. (see below). We have hosted a movie night and a family picnic. We participate in community engagement opportunities on Penn State University Park campus and in State College. Have an idea? Let us know. Want to lead a book study? Give us a call. All walks of faith or places on the journey are welcome.

BOOK / BIBLE STUDIES

We believe that by studying the Word, one comes to understand the Word.
UnClobber
Jan. 12 thru Feb 9
10:45 202 Wesley Building.

Churches in America are experiencing an unprecedented fracturing due to their belief and attitude toward the LGBTQ community. Armed with only six passages in the Bible—often known as the “clobber passages”—the traditional Christian position has been one that stands against the full inclusion of our LGBTQ brothers and sisters. Unclobber reexamines each of those frequently quoted passages of Scripture, alternating with author Colby Martin’s own story of being fired from an evangelical megachurch when they discovered his stance on sexuality.
UnClobber reexamines what the Bible says (and does not say) about homosexuality in such a way that breathes fresh life into outdated and inaccurate assumptions and interpretations.

“Conversion Therapy, Rejection, Estrangement and Reconciliation"

Monday, March 18, 2019 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. - Social Room
St. Paul’s United Methodist Church - 250 E. College Avenue, State College, PA

“Conversion Therapy, Rejection, Estrangement and Reconciliation" Thirty years ago, Laurie, a ministry leader, personally drove Shelley, a student she was mentoring, to reparative therapy appointments under the auspices of a campus para-church organization.  Instead of becoming straight, Shelley recognized that she was still exclusively attracted to women and endured several suicide attempts as she dealt with the realization that her orientation wasn't going to change.  Because of the pain involved, Shelley and Laurie lost contact with each other for over 20 years, but their story did not end there.  Together they will share their amazing story, proving that pigs, indeed, can fly!
